I won this 1997 Stadium Club Co-Signers card on the cheap on eBay back in 2003 or 2004, when I was getting back into the hobby. I was on an autograph mission during that period, and the chance to get the autograph of a player who was one of my most valued prospects in the early 90s was just too much, especially for such a cheap price.
The card itself is kind of nice…I’m not crazy about the rainbow effect on it, and I wonder long-term about having autographs on both sides, but it is kind of a cool little interest piece. Also interesting that White would later play with the Twins after Cordova was gone.
The Nats had the lead going into the 7th, but unfortunately Wil Nieves missed a tag and doomed the team to another lost. Oh, well. It’s not as if we’re not getting used to this. At least J.D. Martin looked good.
This train may never stop.
Well, Clippard blew it last night. Mock did a decent job for once, but Clippard stumbled. I knew the streak couldn’t last, so I’m not too upset. We still have a shot at Bryce Harper next year.
Went to Target last night to pick up a few things for the weekend and couldn’t resist the 09 Allen & Ginter blaster staring me in the face. I also picked up one of those $10 15-pack repack things that never produce anything, right?
Wellll…let’s start there. I actually pulled something aside from Nationals and Expos (which were plentiful for once)! And it came from an Opening Day pack. You have no idea how many of these I’ve slogged through over the years, never believing you could pull a thing from them. Now this isn’t the greatest card but I’m still blown away.
And you know…I actually kind of…like this card. How about that?
So now to the A&G. There were some pretty cool cards in there, but I don’t have all evening to catalog them. I got a couple of Nats that will go up on the site soon, but I got some nice parallels, like this black mini Samuel Morse:
And this mini…whoever this guy is:
A whole blaster and I only scored one crack the code parallel, Edgar Renteria:
And here’s where the mojo comes in: a Hank Blalock GU bat card. These things are way more gorgeous in real life than on web sites, let me tell you.
So, yeah, a stack of Nats, an auto card, and a GU card. I’m pretty happy with this haul. It makes up for some mediocre pulls in the past.
Congrats to Njyer Morgan and Collin Balester for a hell of a game last night. I could get used to all these wins.
Picked up a bunch of 1993 and 1994 Flair last week. I’ve always loved these years for the series, so I thought I’d just show my haul…
