Nats Auto: Felipe Lopez

Okay, kind of a Nats auto. I did get this during his run with the Nationals.

Felipe Lopez
2006 Topps Update #26
Category:
Nationals Lynchpin
Position: SS
Bio/Summary: Flop never quite produced the way I would have hoped for the Nationals…of course, I think the idea of batting him leadoff was silly. I wish him well with the Diamondbacks.
Rating: 8/10 – Great action shot. This set is full of them!

Ramon Ortiz
2006 Topps Update #8
Category:
Nationals Also-Ran
Position: P
Bio/Summary: Man, this guy was awful. I mean it, just flat-out terrible. But, I guess, at least he ate some innings during the 06 season to spare the valuable arms of luminaries like Matt Chico. Did I mention I’m glad he’s gone?
Rating: 5/10 – Could’ve gone in the 05 Inaugural Set; just not much to offer.

wagner

Ryan Wagner
2006 Topps Update #26
Category:
Failed Prospect
Position: RP
Bio/Summary: I think by the time Wagner came to the Nats, it was clear that he wasn’t going to be what people hoped. I was a little sad about it because he was one of the kids that I took a liking to when I resumed collecting back in 2003. I guess his injuries just overcame his natural ability.
Rating: 6/10 – The shadows on the picture suck, but I think it’s kind of cool. Neat to see him pitching in San Francisco, and, if I’m not mistaken, that game is either 7/31/06 or 8/2/06. I can’t determine enough about the situation to tell exactly.

Alfonso Soriano
2006 Topps Update #227 & 295
Category:
Nationals Star
Position: OF
Bio/Summary: I was so geeked to get Soriano. I was a big fan of his all the way back to his Yankee days, and thought he’d make an excellent 2b for the Nats, if only it weren’t for Vidro. Then came the balking at moving to the outfield. Then came the low OBP and huge amount of strikeouts. Then saying he wanted to stay with the Nats but refusing to make it happen. And I became jaded with him to the point that I no longer care about him. Sometimes your favorite player on your favorite team is not a good thing.
Rating: 7/10 – They’re both okay…I’m not a big fan of the two-picture cards.
