Ronnie Belliard, the incomparable Tankass, was traded to the Dodgers this weekend. All good things must come to an end, I suppose, but he wil be missed. Here’s what Rizzo had to say:
Our scouts saw [Garcia] on several occasions this year. He’s up to 94 mph with a fastball and he’s got a slider and he’s got really good command at a really young age. So we’re happy with the results that he’s had in the past. His performance has been good, and his upside is really good. We feel excited about getting him as part of the deal. He’s a part of the deal that we fought hard at the end to extract him from the Dodgers rather than taking an older, more seasoned veteran minor league pitcher. … The player-to-be-named later is somebody who could impact us in the near future.
Let’s hope it’s someone decent!
