This is a tough one to write, as it touches on a memory with my “new” ex-girlfriend, but I’m going to push ahead with it. Basically, her family always had a hard time determining a Christmas gift for me…I have to give her mother credit on this one. Despite the fact that my collecting was dormant at the time, she knew I was a baseball fan and had bought baseball cards at once, so she picked me up a gift certificate for a local card shop.
The place was pretty small, but had a decent enough selection. I considered wax packs, but in the end…I thought I’d rather go with a guaranteed pull. The 2001 Bowman Draft gave me that kind of guarantee and had some pretty decent rookie cards.
So once I had picked it up, we stopped by a nearby Baskin Robbins while I went through the box. And that’s pretty much where this memory ends for now…can’t write much more.
